Each summer, the island will be occupied by one or two commissioned residents. They will collaborate with Zittel by adapting and modifying the island’s structure according to their individual needs. - 6 week residency in summer - For Graduate and Undergraduate students and emerging professionals in the fields of art, design, architecture and performing arts - Island residents are provided with a budget of $3000, paid in two installments, to purchase materials for fabrication. All materials purchased with this budget are property of the IMA. A personal stipend of $1500 is also awarded.

ELIGIBILITY Visual artists working in all forms of media are eligible. The program is designed for artists with a developed studio practice and career experience. Applicants cannot be in a college or university degree-granting program. Certain types of work cannot be accommodated for practical reasons, including large or heavy sculptures, some types of metal work, and work involving high noise levels or fire risk. Applications are judged solely on the quality of the work as presented. EFA does not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation or marital status. Artists must be citizens of the United States, or must be legal U.S residents during their tenure. DEADLINE All applications must be submitted by Friday, December 16, 2011. To be eligible for Contest judging and prize award, an Entry must meet the following requirements: · Entry must be original and made by Entrant. · One (1) Entry per person and each Entry must be submitted by only one (1) person, no teams. · Entry must include: o A minimum of (1) Coca-Cola white cap and (1) white can of Coca-Cola Arctic Home. § Each participating college will be provided 5 cases of empty Coca-Cola Arctic Home cans by 11/5/11. GRAND PRIZE JUDGING: The Grand Prize Judging will take place during the White Carpet Party at the Shedd Aquarium, Chicago, IL on 12/5/11. Photos or videos of each Finalist’s entry (taken by each University Judge, one Finalist entry per Participating University) will be displayed and judged by a celebrity judging panel. Finalist entries to be judged based on criteria per above Rule #2 to determine the highest scoring entry.
