Click for more information on how to apply for : Type A / Type B / Type C INTRODUCTION The FMC offers residencies for the development of graphic projects based on artistic production, research or based on an artistic/theoretical discourse. Eligible are professional artists, designers, theoreticians, critics and researchers who can present a consistent curriculum or a portfolio with relevance to the FMC as a graphic competence centre, or with added value for the current visual arts domain. RESIDENCIES Residents are both graphic and non-graphic artists who work individually or together. The FMC welcomes national and international residents to guarantee cultural diversity. APPLICATION There are two selection stages each year. The FMC issues a CALL for APPLICATIONS mentioning the different forms of residencies and the last date for the submission of applications. A number of admission requirements are associated with the application file. RESIDENCE TYPES TYPE A: general residency A residency of a minimum of four to a maximum of six weeks offers professional artists or graphic designers the opportunity to look more closely at different graphic techniques and/or to explore new graphic applications in their own artistic practise. The FMC makes two technical staff members available, and prior knowledge of the graphic medium is not required. TYPE B: research-oriented residency Residency of two months for researchers, artists and graphic designers for the purposes of researching the graphic medium. The residency falls under the Expert Cluster and good knowledge of the medium is a requirement. The residence closes with a public event in the form of a discussion. TYPE C: Essay A residency of one month enabling artists, critics and theoreticians to write an essay on the graphic medium. The essay elucidates the graphic work of a resident artist, it relates to an exhibition, or serves as research into the graphic medium. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The selection committee accepts files with a maximum size of 1MB: JPEG, PDF, WORD, PPT and attachments in the form of catalogs and publications. In his application file the candidate demonstrates a permanent (artistic) practice on the basis of his/her curriculum. In keeping with our mission to promote the greater appreciation and understanding of the fine art print, IPCNY presents a selection of new prints several times per year. New Prints 2012/Autumn will be the 43rd New Prints Exhibition. It will tour to the Visual Arts Center of the University of Texas at Austin, February 1 - March 9, 2013, as part of the university's Printmaking Convergence program. The Selections Committee will be announced in the coming weeks. Criteria for selection:
Artists and publishers whose work has been selected will be responsible for the framing and delivery of work to IPCNY by October 5, 2012. IPCNY will cover the return cost of delivery within reason. Due to the increased number of international submissions being selected, IPCNY can only contribute $50 dollars on return shipments overseas. Packaging must be provided by the lender for work being shipped outside of New York City. *NOTE*: Please follow the guidelines when preparing your materials, or your submission may be disqualified. ______________________________________________________ SUBMISSION GUIDELINES 1) Materials must be received by August 3, 2012 2) NO PHONE CALLS. 3) Send images in digital format on a CD (no DVDs) labeled with the submitter's name. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL ARTWORK, ENCLOSE BINDERS, FOLDERS, OR ANY MATERIALS OTHER THAN CD AND IMAGE LIST. A maximum of five works per artist is allowed, with one image and one optional detail per work. For the past 36 years, it has provided activities, exhibitions, events, and classes that support and nurture an appreciation for printmaking, photography, papermaking, and artist books. PCNJ offers an annual 6 week residency to professional artists who are interested in developing new and innovative work in printmaking and its related disciplines. PCNJ welcomes applicants with diverse perspectives, personal narrative and style. PCNJ does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or socioeconomic background. Applications must be post marked by March 1, 2012. PCNJ's Artist-in-Residence (AiR) is supported by a grant from the Adolf Konrad Foundation. The Foundation, created in memory of the renowned artist, provides an opportunity to one artist each year to utilize the Council's Printmaking Studios. Adolf Konrad understood the many benefits a studio can provide for an artist who needs intense concentration to conceptualize, explore and create a new body of work. PCNJ is committed to helping arrange for the special needs of the artist, publicity for both the artist and the program, and to providing exposure for the artist's work. This month-long festival has proudly served fine art and culture to the South Texas Region for over 30 years. This year's events focus on the expansive realm of Printmaking. AWARDS: Merit, Purchase and Materials Awards totaling over $2500 will be announced by the jurors during the closing reception on Thursday, April 26th 2012. A Materials Award from generous sponsors will be given in each category: Lithography, Intaglio, Relief and Screenprint. Best Intaglio: $150 of ink from Gamblin Artist Colors and $150 of tools from E.C. Lyons Co. Best Relief: $300 in ink from Gamblin Artist Colors.
