The University of Kansas School of the Arts provides travel funds to support the professional development of its students and to increase the visibility of its academic programs. Applicants should note that funding priority will be given to students who were selected to participate in professional programs, conferences and events on the basis of a peer review of their work (portfolio, audition tape, written proposal, etc.). Applicants may only receive funding once per academic year (fall, spring, summer). There are three options for student travel funding:
Option 1: Up to $2501 may be awarded to students who attend regional or national professional conferences directly related to their area of study. Students attending conferences as a group must still apply to Student Travel Fund individually.
Option 2: Up to $5001 may be awarded for the following activities:
Note: This fund does not cover participation in study programs such as internships or other travel activities undertaken as part of non-study abroad courses.
Deadline: February 27, 2015, Noon
The Center for Undergraduate Research is soliciting artwork for the cover of the program for the 18th annualUndergraduate Research Symposium to be held at KU on April 25, 2015. The design will appear on the program for the day’s events, as well as promotional materials associated with the Symposium. The winner of the cover art competition will also receive $100.
The Center often uses the phrase “Claim your Curiosity” in marketing to students; the winning design will communicate this spirit of curiosity that is at the heart of undergraduate research. Your submission could include text (with the title of the event, etc.) as part of the design, or it could be a stand-alone image that we will then incorporate into a poster layout for our promotional purposes.
The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual event at KU that celebrates the diversity of undergraduate research and creative activities on campus. Students present their research and creative scholarship to others in the Lawrence community.
Any undergraduate student at KU is eligible to participate in this competition.
Submissions for the cover design should be saved as an electronic document (pdf, jpg, png, etc.) and sent via the online submission form by noon on Friday, February 27th. If you have any questions about the Cover Art Competition or the Undergraduate Research Symposium, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Undergraduate Travel Awards are offered to KU undergraduate students to defray the cost of travel to present results of their research or creative performance at a professional conference in their field.

Guidelines for Professional Conference Classification
KU undergraduates are eligible to apply for funding from the Center for Undergraduate Research in order to present their original research at professional conferences. Please use the following guidelines to determine whether or not the conference you plan to attend would be considered a “professional conference.” If you feel that your conference does not meet these criteria but is still a “professional” conference for some reason, please email@example.com.
