Description: This is an all media exhibition that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Target Gallery. This is open to all artists nationally and internationally. Artists are asked to submit work that responds to world events that have occurred over the past 25 years.
A special catalog and poster will accompany this exhibition.
Juror: J.W. Mahoney is an artist, critic and independent curator who serves as Washington's Corresponding Editor for Art in America. He is an Affiliate Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, and his latest exhibition, "Carceral," will open at Curator's Office in Washington in May of this year.

Funding Available For Internationalizing Courses

As part of an on-going effort to internationalize the curriculum at KU, International Programs is offering an $850 stipend to tenured and tenure-track faculty who develop a new international course or significantly revise an existing course to make it more international. Proposals for courses that meet the academic requirements for the undergraduate Global Awareness Program (GAP) are especially welcomed. According to the GAP guidelines, these courses must have: (1) a significant, modern emphasis, with 50% or more of the content being from the 20th and 21st centuries; and, (2) an international focus, with 50% or more non-U.S. material. All proposals are welcome, but courses taught mainly to undergraduate students, and those which will impact a substantial amount of students, will receive preference. All proposed courses must be taught on the Lawrence or Edwards campus. Proposals for study abroad courses will not be considered.
All applicants who are selected for the program will be asked to participate in a two hour “Internationalization of the Curriculum” workshop on “stop day”, Friday, May 4, 2012, to present their ideas for the course and discuss ways of internationalizing the curriculum with other interested KU faculty. Faculty who participated in the 2010 and 2011 workshops are not eligible to apply for single grants.
Interested participants are invited to submit a short proposal (two to three pages, double-spaced) that includes: (1) a narrative description of the new course, or how a preexisting course will be substantially revised; (2) the course title and a (possible) course number; and, (3) a discussion of the potential impact you expect the course to have on KU’s international posture. The proposal should indicate whether or not the course is undergraduate or graduate, the expected enrollment, whether or not it is intended as a principal course, and the frequency with which it will be offered. It is expected that the course will be offered sometime during the next two academic years and that it will be offered at least three times within the next six-year period. Faculty from all academic disciplines are invited to submit proposals.
· The deadline for proposals is Monday, April 16. All proposals should be submitted to Brent Steele, International Programs, 300 Strong Hall, or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than 5:00 p.m. on that day.
· The department chair and/or dean, as appropriate, must endorse all proposals.
· Successful applicants will be notified on or before Monday, May 2.
· The workshop for program participants is scheduled for “stop day”, Friday, May 4, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon in the Parlor Room, Level 5 of the Kansas Union
· Attendance by participants in the full program of the workshop is required in order to receive the stipend.
· Participants will receive $850 to assist with the planning of the proposed course and for participation in the workshop.
· Participants will be asked to submit to International Programs a brief report on the new or revised course and a syllabus after it is offered.

"LibArt: Student Art in the Libraries" is a year-long exhibition organized and sponsored by KU Libraries, which offers students the opportunity to display their artwork in the libraries' public spaces.
For physical display, art must be two-dimensional and ready to hang. For digital display, two-dimensional, three-dimensional or multimedia entries are accepted.

Volkswagen Fellow The Volkswagen Fellows will assist in research, writing, correspondence and other tasks required to produce a large-scale, international exhibition at MoMA PS1 in 2013, which will be made possible by a partnership with Volkswagen of America.
Candidates should have strong knowledge of both Mac and PC platforms, MS Office, and Photoshop. Proficiency with InDesign is also preferred.
Fellows must have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate professionalism and superior judgment. They should be comfortable liaising with artists, galleries and other institutions during the organization and implementation of the exhibition.

Term: Full-time (5 days per week) for 1 year
