SOHO20 Chelsea Gallery is an artist run non-profit gallery dedicated to supporting women in the arts. We are located in the heart of the Chelsea art community where we facilitate various programs including the SOHO20 Studio Residency, the Fellowship Program and our Savoir-Faire performance art series.
SOHO20 seeks a person for the part-time position of Assistant Director specializing in grant writing and fundraising. The assistant director will work with the director to fulfill certain administrative duties but will focus primarily on finding program support for the gallery through grants as well as working with a committee on the annual benefit.
The assistant director will need to be present at the gallery 3 days a week during gallery hours, and will need to interact with visitors and artists on a regular basis.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
-Assisting the director with program development.
- Researching applicable funding options for gallery’s programs.
- Maintaining the gallery’s records i.e. budget reports, Board of Directors info, etc.
- Writing grants and pursuing viable funding options for gallery’s programs.
- Working with a planning committee on the annual benefit
- Building and maintaining relationships with donors
-Performing various administrative duties.
-Bachelor's degree required.
-2+ years in grant writing experience

-Must be flexible and proactive.
-Must demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently.
-Requires ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
-Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in art and knowledge of the non-profit sector.
This is a part-time position, 3 days per week.
Gallery hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 12-6 PM.

The Textiles and Drawing/Painting Studio Coordinator is responsible for keeping three studios in good working order and preparing for each class or activity scheduled in the space. Through a helpful and welcoming presence, the Coordinator sets the tone for all classes. The Coordinator must successfully communicate with instructors and studio assistants to insure the smooth operations of class supply ordering, studio setup, studio safety and general operations of the studio. The position provides studio monitoring during the winter rental as well. This is a technical, administrative, and services-oriented position. Adaptability, analysis, attention to detail, collaboration, personal impact, dependability, safety awareness, organizational sensitivity and teamwork are characteristics central to this position. The position reports to the Studio Manager and is a full time (30 hours), hourly, year round, benefits eligible position.
